Phantom Joker Escape! ♡ ♢ ♤ ♧

Hi everyone! I was recently invited for a game experience by Nuffnang at the Phantom Joker Escape, which is a real escape game outlet that opened in Jan 2014 (: So, a real escape game is basically a setting where players have to solve clues/mysteries in a specific game setting in a set time limit.

I was quite looking forward to this event because I've played something similar before with the boyfriend and another couple as a double date activity heh!

Phantom Joker Escape is really cool because they offer "episodes" for players to explore and solve according to a single story line, instead of the usual different "rooms/scenarios" that other real escape game outlets offer! So basically, these "episodes" are linked to each other and it works together to solve the main mystery in the entire story.

Basically, the gist of the story is that you'll be playing the role of Carl, who's a FBI agent. Carl's brother, Brook, has disappeared mysteriously and is trapped somewhere. In order to rescue your brother, you'll have to go through and solve these episodes which the Phantom Joker Escape offers (: These include, breaking into a biochemistry company, exploring spooky alien worlds and even time-traveling to ancient times!

The episode that I tried was Episode 02 - The Fallen Star in the Ancient Villa! My group was supposed to find this secret evil source of power which traces back to ancient times, and we were brought into this dim room and given candle torches as lights to search for clues.

I really enjoyed my experience at the Phantom Joker as it utilizes high-tech machinery for players to solve certain parts of the mystery instead of just the usual lock-and-key puzzles. Players are also required to read through clues thoroughly and work together as a team, cause even the slightest details play a huge part in the entire story! (BIG HINT here hahaha)

And trust me, you'll be super in awe of the machinery that's put in place! All of us went like "OMG!" and let off frantic stifles when we managed to solve certain parts of the room hahaha.

Unfortunately, my group wasn't able to solve all of the parts of this episode, and the staff were really helpful in aiding and guiding us through parts of the episode when we were stuck! (: It's really fun and definitely a good bonding activity with friends or for corporate companies! Would definitely be back with my friends to try out the other episodes (:

Singapore International Water Week: Lorong Halus Waterway

Hi everyone! So, I was recently invited to participate in a trail walk on Saturday around Lorong Halus Wetlands in light of the Singapore International Water Week! (:

What is the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW)?

The SIWW is the global platform to share and co- create innovative water solutions. Comprising the Water Leaders Summit, Water Convention, Water Expo, Business Forums, Industrial Water Solutions Forum and TechXchange, it culminates in the presentation of the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize, a prestigious international water award to recognize outstanding contributions towards solving global water problems.

Basically, this trail walk I went for was one of the events for the SIWW which is an informational walk on this reservoir's history and how the water is collected and purified here! (:

Woke up bright and early for the trail walk and headed there with Tzu! Thank goodness he was there to accompany me heh! (: There were about 40+ people for the walk, and the aunties on the walk were very cute hahaha. 

And here we go! (:

Lorong Halus Wetlands is located in the north-east part of Singapore, around Punggol and Pasir Ris (: It's quite popular with residents as a recreation place for cycling and walks. I actually had my photoshoot somewhere nearby too! (: 

But what most people don't know is that, Lorong Halus used to be a landfill from 1970 to 1999! It occupies about 234 hectares along the eastern bank of Sungei Serangoon back then. However, a fraction of this former landfill has now been changed into Lorong Halus Wetland to treat leachate. 

(Leachate is essentially any liquid material that contains elevated concentrations of undesirable material derived from the material that it has passed through.)

The unique thing about this wetland area is that, water isn't treated by chemical means but instead via the environment itself?! (: Plants specially planted at reed beds would absorb nutrients from the leachate, and thus providing a suitable habitat for plants and animals. This ecosystem helps to protect our reservoir water! (:

An impermeable wall made of cement, bentonite and soil is also installed to intercept leachate along the length of the former landfill before it is distributed into the reed beds. It helps to contain the lechate and prevent it from seeping into the reservoir.

The dam helps to regulate flow from the sea in between high and low tides. It also helps to balance the salinity of water in the reservoir.

The trail walk was overall really fun and enriching I feel! (: I've never known the background that goes behind the whole purification system, and it's pretty amazing how it is done! It was a lovely morning too, to have a walk around the area (:

Sunday's Brunch at The Cornerstone ☼

Ah, I've been missing again! ): But yes! I'm back with an update from an event that I was kindly invited to by Gwen from Nuffnang.

It was a Sunday brunch affair held at The Cornerstone (located at Bishan Park) together with radio DJs from Power 98 and 88.3 Jia Fm and local bloggers! (:

I attended the event together with my LB shopping girls and we were one of the earlier ones so we took some shots:

Shortly after, the event started and the DJs took over and began on introductions (: Basically, the microphone was passed around and everyone gave a short introduction about themselves, including us hahaha. It was really funny because all of us were like "Oh nooooo..." and everyone started panicking hahaha. 

Meanwhile, food was served by the staff from The Cornerstone in tasting portions, and they were all pretty yummy! 

Oh I loved these. Smoked Salmon served with a sort of creamy cheese sauce in a small cone! :9

Pork belly served over a unique tasting sauce, the pork was really succulent and delicious! (:

There were also games lined up for everyone to participate in, and Gerri was called up! Hahaha this was a game of passing-down-charades, and basically the last person has to guess what everyone else has been acting. There was a song-guessing competition as well, and Cleo and I won a goodie bag each for guessing songs! :D

AND, this was the desserts spread! Hehe, can't explain how happy I was to be able to try all these sweet treats, and they looked so very pretty as well :9

It was a great Sunday morning spent with great food and company and I had lots of fun talking and taking photos with everyone! (: And I must say, I love the way the radio DJs speak. Especially for the 883 Jia FM DJs who are bilingual? They are really proficient in both Mandarin and English; super amazing! The bloggers were really friendly as well and I really enjoyed myself that Sunday (:

But the blue piece is alright and I love it so much! (:
