Late nights.

So, its just been one of those nights where you have a ton of work waiting for you but you've chosen to procrastinate somehow and end up still being awake at 3:30 am on a weekday night.

I was inspired by the movie "我的少女時代", and hence I actually went to read through old diary entries of my secondary school days - really, really ancient stuff of 2004 till some parts on JC days/early uni days.

It's crazy how time has passed. I still vividly remember the very first day of stepping into TKG, and being late on the very first day of school because I got lost on the bus ride to school - because I stupidly alighted at VJC instead of TKGS (hahahaha).

I used to state every single detail of my day spent - it was really amusing reading how my teenager self used to write. There were the parts about friendships, teachers, Netball and family and of course on the occasional love interest/crush that occurred back then.

It's unbelievable how in a blink of an eye, I'm a full-fledged working adult, with different perspectives and thoughts from that teenager self. And now, I find myself thinking about all those experiences that I've gone through and lived. I still don't have it all together - but I'm thankful for how everyone who's come into my life - both good and bad experiences; cause they've made me into the person I am today somehow.

Thankful for every tear cried, every fight made, every victory celebrated, every friend kept, every challenge conquered, every heartache and every heartwarming moment that has ever occurred.

Reflective with Cocomi.

About Nails: Nail Haven by Fiona.

A way overdue post but working has taken out a lot of time and energy from me and time to just sit down and even reply emails/write posts have been really scarce somehow. #adulthoodgotreal

In any case, here's a shoutout post for Nail Haven - run by Fiona (@nailhavensg on Instagram). I did nails with her for about half a year while she was still running her home salon. However, she's recently shifted to a store space over at Chinatown so yay to girls who pass around that area!

Back then, this was how her home space for nails looked like:

These shots were taken when I did the set of nails I loved - a hand painted set of oriental floral prints by her. 

I would usually get gellish nails done with her! Basically, gellish nails would last about 3-4 weeks so they are great for special occasions or for girls who are always more careless with their nails (like me hahaha). I would get nail extensions if my nails are too short too (:

Fiona's a really detailed manicurist, and she's always open to designs that her customers may have for her, so what I usually do was to explain to her what I want or show her a design/pattern that I want and she'll work out a colour palette for it.

And... so here's the final results for the oriental florals set:

Totally in love with how she positioned and drew the strokes out for the flower petals (: I'm always gonna amazed at how she paints and does the nail art!

Ending off my post with one last photo of another set done by her: a Christmas inspired theme.

It's unbelievable how intricate the strokes are - the snowman's definitely my favourite design there!

NDP: Mobile Column segment - Media preview

It's back to work for me and I'm still trying to adjust to work - hoping that I'll be able to settle into the flow of things soon! Anyway, I had the opportunity to attend the media preview of the Mobile Column segment for this year's National Day Parade a couple of Saturdays back (:

The Mobile Column segment is a display of the various assets from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

And for Singapore's Jubilee year this 2015, a total of 177 assets from the SAF, SPF and SCDF would be featured in the Mobile Column segment - which includes crowd favourites such as the Leopard 2SG Battle Tank and the Bionix II Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Furthermore, spectators would be able to see naval assets not featured in previous mobile columns as well (: It's gonna be really spectacular for this year!

We attended a briefing at the start of the media preview event and at the end of it I actually had the chance to ride in one of the army vehicles - which was incredibly cool because I've never been in one before?! Heh.

In the midst of interviews

This theme for this year's Mobile Column is "Strength". It's split into 4 parts - "Giving Strength to our Nation", "Strength in Action", "Strength for Our Home" and "From Strength to Strength". It would actually be telling a story of strength, not only through the display of advanced capabilities of the SAF team and Home team but also through the real stories of the people behind these vehicles.

Through this year's Mobile Column, it would start off with paying tribute to SAF's pioneers with Col Goh Lye Choon (pictured below!) riding alongside the Mobile Column Commander at the start of it to the end message of how this strength is to be carried on by the succeeding generations of Singaporeans. 

All in all, I'm definitely excited to catch the Mobile Column segment for this year's NDP and I hope you are too! (: Here are more photos of other vehicles:

It was quite an experience being in the Bronco - I had to wear a helmet while in it and it was really really heavy hahaha. I'm really glad I got the chance to ride in one of the vehicles and have a taste of how it's like in a real army vehicle. It's really not easy to be in a confined space for long and to be dressed in uniform while in it! Kudos to all the guys who are in the army and serving the nation (or has completed service to the nation)! (:
